Gainesville, GA (PRWEB) April 17, 2014

Just Southeast of Dallas in Mabank, Texas, JM Martin Construction has been building, installing, and repairing/remodeling docks and marinas for 10 years. For this project, JM Martin Construction chose AridDek for its waterproof solution, low-maintenance, and durability.

Derek Holland of JM Martin Construction said, We love AridDek for its easy installation and the fact that the interlocking panels waterproof the deck below.

Acoustifence Reduces Construction Noise at Two Large-Scale Santa Monica, Calif. Construction Projects

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) February 03, 2014

Acoustifence is gaining recognition as an effective sound barrier for mitigating construction noise in communities where large construction projects are taking place. Currently, two large scale construction projects in the Los Angeles/Santa Monica areas are utilizing Acoustifence to minimize construction noise.

With much new development going on in the Los Angeles and Santa Monica areas, often times neighbors can feel like they are being encroached upon by the effects of new construction activity and construction related noise. Acoustiblok, Inc.s sound barrier product, Acoustifence, is now helping even more Santa Monica residents cope with construction noise at two large sites.

Since 2011, an Acoustifence construction fence has been successfully utilized at the $ 55 million Santa Monica High School Science and Technology Building Project. Get a detailed news article about this project.

Now, Acoustifence is being utilized in the construction of the Operations and Maintenance Facility complex, which is part of $ 1.511 billion Phase 2 of the Metro Rail Corridor project.

Phase 2 is a 6.6 mile extension of the 87 Metro Rail System from the existing station at Culver City. In preparation for construction of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Facility for the Expo Line project, work crews began demolition of some existing buildings and site prep work. The site is located at Stewart Street and Exposition Boulevard in the City of Santa Monica.

The work is being managed and performed by the O&M Facility contractor Kiewit Building Group, Inc. and its subcontractors. Santa Monica is a densely populated area where multi-family and single-family homes are located adjacent to the property. The neighbors, which include the residential plus some sensitive commercial tenants, face the two short sides and one long side of the rectangular piece of property.

Kiewit Building Group installed a standard 8-foot high chain link construction fence on the projects three sides where neighbors reside. The company then wrapped 1,000 linear feet of Acoustifence sound barrier onto the chain link fence on 3 sides: the western border, southern border, and eastern border. The north border is the main line contractor so it was not necessary there.

Acoustifence is a modern day acoustical soundproofing product developed by Tampa, Florida-based Acoustiblok, Inc. It is being recognized more and more as a way to mitigate construction noise at large-scale construction projects.

Acoustifence is a unique 1/8th inch, 6′ x 30′ (3mm x 1.83m x 9.14m) heavy mineral filled, barium free viscoelastic acoustical material. Its an advanced material sound barrier that is placed between a noise source and the noise receiver, said Marilyn Myers, Acoustibloks Chief Operating Officer who worked with Kiewit Building Group on the project.

The material easily attaches to chain link fences and comes in large sections and in custom made sizes, making it ideal for construction fence applications that require a soundproofing element at the construction site. Acoustifence is extremely strong and was engineered to withstand harsh outdoor environments like construction sites and highway environments. Full exposure to dirt, grease, oil, mold or even being driven over is not a problem for the Acoustifence.

Kiewit Building Group needed the material fast and we were able to get it to them immediately. They were able to install it quickly and said the city was pleased with the results, Myers added.

Tom Beaty is the Community Relations Officer for Kiewit Building Group for the Expo Line Operations and Maintenance Facility project.

We wrapped as much Acoustifence as we could on the chain link fence. We knew this would create an effective noise barrier and help keep the construction noise and vibration levels down as best as possible given that the area is not completely enclosed, Beaty said.

In addition to being a sound barrier, Acoustifences opacity and black color also provides a visual separation for the construction project and the neighbors. It can also help reduce the amount of dust that would otherwise blow through a chain link construction fence.

Beaty went on to say, There are local noise and vibration ordinances that we have to adhere to when performing our construction projects. While were not required to put up an acoustical construction fence unless we exceed the allowable limits, we made the decision to install one before work commenced because we do work hard to keep noise at a minimum to the surrounding residential and business neighbors and we want them to have the best experience possible during the construction work.

We do whats right because we care about the local community and are sensitive to the inconveniences that sometimes come with large scale construction projects in residential and business communities, Beaty explained.

Lahnie Johnson is President & Founder of Acoustiblok Inc. The construction industry is just starting to see the importance of utilizing Acoustifence on large-scale construction projects where construction noise is a concern. Acoustiblok is more than just a provider of acoustical products. We’re a company that provides acoustical solutions to commercial, industrial, residential, marine and transportation related noise problems,” he said.

About Acoustiblok

The company develops, manufactures, and markets acoustical products around the world, earning the industrys highest ratings from architects, builders, and consumers.

New York Construction Accident Lawyer Believes Crane Collapse Could Have Been Prevented, Thankful Operator Suffered Only Minor Injuries

New York, New York (PRWEB) December 24, 2013

A construction crane and the truck it was attached to tipped over in Mineola, Long Island. The crane accident occurred at the site where an annex to Winthrop Hospital is being built, said Fox News (12.19.13). The crane accident resulted in one non life-threatening injury, and for that were thankful. That is not the case with many crane accidents, said David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New Yorks construction accident law firms.

When a crane accident happens, workers are in immediate danger of being injured or killed, along with the crane operator, said Perecman. Being a crane operator can be a very dangerous job.

The crane operator suffered minor injuries, said Fox News. These injuries would likely have been more serious if he had not jumped out of the cab before the crane fell. The cause of the crane accident is under investigation.

A number of different factors can cause crane accident injuries. These include falls, dropped loads, high winds, tip-overs, boom collapse, rigging failures, defective cranes, lifting device failures, and crane contact with power lines.

The dangers of cranes are well known. This is why specific regulations and safety procedures must be followed when a crane is operated, said Perecman. Cranes are not supposed to fall down.

Supervisors and contractors have the responsibility to ensure that workers are adequately trained in the use of jobsite machinery and that work is conducted in a safe manner. Then, for cranes to function properly, regular maintenance and proper storage is needed. If jobs and/or responsibilities are neglected and a crane accident happens, the victims may be able to recover compensation for their medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and more.

From the Fox News photo, the crane involved in the accident appeared to be a five axle All Terrain crane.

The Fox News article cited is Crane collapse at hospital construction site.

For more than 30 years, the construction accident attorneys at The Perecman Firm in New York have aggressively helped victims of crane accidents obtain compensation for their injuries.
